Why Our EPD Certification Matters: A New Era of Transparency in Fire-resistant ACP Sheets

At Aludecor, we have always believed that the future of façade materials will not be defined only by aesthetics, durability, or fire performance. It will also be shaped by transparency. Today, architects, consultants, developers, and project owners want more than product claims. They want verified environmental data that helps them make better material decisions. That is why our Environmental Product Declarations published on EPD Hub mark such an important milestone for us.

Our Aludecor Firewall Class A2 and Aludecor Firewall Class B are now backed by internationally verified Environmental Product Declarations under HUB-6024 and HUB-6022. These declarations are published on EPD Hub, were issued on 16 April 2026, and remain valid until 16 April 2031. They are independently verified and prepared in accordance with globally recognized standards including EN 15804+A2, ISO 14025, and ISO 21930.

For us, this is not just another certification. It is a powerful statement of intent. It reflects our commitment to bringing scientific, third-party verified environmental transparency into a product category that has traditionally been discussed more for performance than for measurable environmental disclosure. With this step, we are giving the market something more substantial than broad sustainability language. We are giving it data.

What an EPD really means

An Environmental Product Declaration, or EPD, is often described as the nutrition label of the construction industry. That comparison is apt. Just as a nutrition label tells you what is inside a food product, an EPD tells you the measured environmental impact of a construction material across its life cycle. It is based on Life Cycle Assessment methodology and looks at the impacts associated with raw materials, transport, manufacturing, transport to site, end-of-life stages, and recyclability benefits beyond the system boundary.

What matters most is that an EPD is not a marketing badge. It is not a “green” certificate in the casual sense. It does not exist to make vague claims about sustainability. It exists to provide independently verified facts. That distinction is important, especially in a market where specifiers are becoming increasingly careful about what they trust.

At Aludecor, we see this kind of transparency as essential to responsible specification. As projects become more focused on green building benchmarks, lifecycle accountability, and ESG-linked procurement, product-level environmental data is becoming more relevant than ever.

A new proof point for India’s most tested and trusted brand

We have always believed that trust must be earned through proof. That is the thinking behind our “Test Nahi Toh Trust Nahi” philosophy, and it is why we continue to strengthen our position as India’s Most Tested and Trusted Brand in architectural solutions. Our EPD-certified Firewall range is a natural extension of that commitment. It shows that just as our fire-rated ACPs are backed by rigorous performance testing, they are now also supported by independently verified environmental data. Aludecor’s brand goal itself is built around being the most trusted and future-focused name in architectural solutions, and this milestone brings that promise to life in a powerful new way.

Fire-rated ACP has always had to answer critical questions around safety, compliance, and reliability. Now, with our EPDs in place for Firewall Class A2 and Class B, we can answer another equally important set of questions with the same confidence: what is the product’s carbon footprint, how much secondary material is involved, what happens at the end of the product’s life, and how does it support more transparent, responsible building decisions. These declarations are independently verified under EN 15804, ISO 14025, and ISO 21930, and published through EPD Hub, with Aludecor Firewall Class A2 showing a GWP-total of 33.6 kgCO2e/m² and 95.1% secondary material output, while Class B shows a GWP-total of 37.5 kgCO2e/m².

This matters because the market is evolving from claims to evidence. Today’s architects, consultants, developers, and ESG-conscious project teams want materials that do more than perform well in application. They want materials that are tested, documented, and credible across every important dimension. With Aludecor Firewall, we now bring together fire safety, environmental transparency, and specification confidence in one offering—backed not by statements alone, but by verifiable data. That is exactly how trust is built, and why this achievement fits so strongly within the Aludecor narrative of being India’s most tested and trusted brand.

The numbers that define the story

One of the strongest aspects of our EPD story is that it is built on real, verifiable metrics. These are not abstract ideas. They are quantified outcomes.

For Aludecor Firewall Class A2, our declaration records a GWP-total A1–A3 of 33.6 kgCO₂e/m². The declared unit is 1 square metre of Aluminium Composite Panel, with a mass of 8.38 kg. The same declaration also records 128 kWh of total energy use, 0.27 m³ of net freshwater use, 26.6% secondary material input, and 95.1% secondary material output.

For Aludecor Firewall Class B, the verified GWP-total A1–A3 is 37.5 kgCO₂e/m². Its declared unit is also 1 square metre, with a mass of 8.35 kg. It records 141 kWh of total energy use, 0.31 m³ of net freshwater use, 23.7% secondary material input, and 95.2% secondary material output.

These figures are important because they give specifiers a more informed basis for comparison and decision-making. Instead of relying on assumptions, they can refer to product-level environmental indicators. Instead of broad sustainability language, they can work with declared values.

Among these numbers, one of the most meaningful is the 95.1% secondary material output for our Firewall Class A2. This speaks directly to the circularity conversation that is becoming increasingly relevant in architecture and construction. It shows that a very high proportion of material can re-enter secondary material streams at end of life, which is a significant consideration for future-focused material selection.

Why this matters to architects, consultants, and developers

For architects, environmental transparency helps build stronger specifications. It gives them clearer documentation when discussing materials with clients, consultants, and contractors. For sustainability professionals, it strengthens the data trail required for building rating systems and reporting frameworks. For developers and project owners, it supports a more accountable materials strategy.

At Aludecor, we believe this is where our EPD-certified Firewall range becomes especially relevant. It is not simply a fire-rated ACP with good technical performance. It is now a product with independently verified environmental disclosure that can support more informed project conversations.

This matters in projects where safety cannot be compromised. It matters in projects where sustainability goals are taken seriously. It matters in projects where documentation must stand up to scrutiny. And it matters in projects where the choice of façade material is expected to reflect both performance and responsibility.

The Bottom Line for Architects

Three things architects now have with our Firewall that they didn’t have before:

  1. Defensibility: Every specification can now be backed by verified, published environmental data. If a client or consultant challenges the material choice on sustainability grounds, you have a third-party verified document to reference.
  2. Completeness: Fire safety AND sustainability documentation in a single product. No need to compromise one for the other.
  3. Future-proofing: As building codes and green rating requirements evolve, EPD-documented materials are already ahead of the curve. Your specification holds up through the project lifecycle and beyond.

Fire-safe and environmentally declared

Our Firewall range has already established itself as a trusted fire-rated solution. Firewall Class A2 is process certified to EN 13501-1, Class A2-s1, d0, while Firewall Class B is process certified to EN 13501-1, Class B-s1, d0. These classifications reflect very important fire-performance characteristics, including limited contribution to fire growth, negligible smoke, and no dangerous flaming droplets in the tested conditions described.

What our EPD certification milestone does is add another important layer to this story. It allows us to say that our fire-rated ACP is not only engineered for safety, but also documented for environmental transparency. This combination is where we see the future of responsible façade specification.

For years, products were often judged in silos. Some conversations were about safety. Others were about aesthetics. Others were about cost. Increasingly, these conversations are converging. Today, one material is expected to respond to all of them. Our EPD-certified Firewall range is our answer to that changing expectation.

A more credible sustainability conversation

One of the most important things about our EPD story is what it does not claim. We do not treat an EPD as a shortcut to saying a product is “green” in a simplistic or undefined way. We see it as verified environmental disclosure. That distinction keeps the conversation honest, professional, and useful.

In our view, credibility matters more than hype. Architects and consultants do not need exaggerated sustainability promises. They need data they can rely on. They need clarity on lifecycle impacts. They need documentation that aligns with recognized standards. That is exactly what our EPDs provide.

Building for the future

At Aludecor, we have always worked to stay ahead of where the market is headed, whether in fire-safe innovation, quality systems, or façade material performance. Our EPD certification is part of that same commitment.

It signals that we are not waiting for the market to demand more accountability. We are preparing for it. We are equipping our products for a future where transparency, traceability, and lifecycle understanding will be central to specification decisions.

With 33.6 kgCO₂e/m² for Firewall Class A2, 37.5 kgCO₂e/m² for Firewall Class B, and 95.1% secondary material output for Class A2, we are contributing measurable data to a conversation that matters deeply to the future of architecture.

Conclusion

Our EPD certification is more than a technical achievement. It is a reflection of how we believe building materials should be presented in the modern world: with facts, with transparency, and with accountability.

Through HUB-6024 and HUB-6022, our Aludecor Firewall range now stands at the intersection of fire safety, environmental disclosure, and future-ready specification. For us, that is not just a milestone. It is the direction forward.

At Aludecor, we believe the future belongs to materials that can prove their value, not just claim it. Our EPD-certified Firewall range is built for that future.
