The Space Story: Wabi Sabi Series adds Quintessential Charm to Tata Steel’s Corporate Office Space

Architect Ayan Sen, the pre-eminent name in the Indian Architect Sphere has collaborated with the Steel Industry giant Tata Steel to execute a transformational design for the Industry giant’s Kolkata Corporate Office.

The 15,000 square feet space was envisioned to have a warm, industrial look – fit enough to represent Tata Steel as a Steel giant with a progressive outlook towards its business ethics and operations. Carefully curated steel metal finishes along with other quirky designs have elevated the office space to the level of sheer genius.

The theme of the design for the office space was set to revolve around “lucid, industrial yet charmingly inviting”. Ar. Ayan Sen has used a lot of steel elements to give shape and character to the Steel giants dominating presence in the business sphere.

For a striking design, Ar. Ayan Sen has used tones of grey and brick, in varying amounts,

throughout the Corporate office space. While the red and brown brick toned hues lend a vernacular, regional feel, the different tones of greys ensure a modern, industrial appearance. The Entry and the Lobby space have been adorned with metal surfaces in order to personify the spirit of Tata Steel. Coming in through the Entry to the Lobby, one is sure to identify the decor to be ideal for the Steel Industry mogul.

The office space is a sweet medley of the old and the new. On one hand the tastefully curated pictures remind one of the old world charm- and on the other, the popping colours of the modern decor instils the right amount of contemporary aesthetics.

Ar. Ayan Sen has chosen shade MA-10 Antiq Slate from Aludecor’s Wabi Sabi Series of ACPs to beautify the Feature Wall behind the Reception Desk at the Lobby.

Part of Aludecor’s “Perfectly Imperfect” series of ACPs, the shade MA-10 Antiq Slate represents “Brutalist Architecture” at its best. The colour palette immediately caught the eye of Ar. Sen, who wanted an array of options that match Tata Steel’s dominating stature as a Steel Industry giant.

The Feature Wall stands proudly, bearing the Tata Steel logo, which beautifully stands out against the ACP clad surface.
