Yet Another Reminder about the Importance of Using Fire Retardant Materials for Buildings.

10 A.M, 9th May 2018. Office goers were taken aback after reaching their workplace at Martin Burn Building, located opposite to the Kolkata Police headquarters in Lalbazar. The main entrance was locked out for regular commuters as firemen were busy dousing a fire that broke out in an office located on the 4th floor of the building.

According to the fire department officers, a short circuit in an AC triggered the blaze. Around 9am, people inside the building noticed smoke coming out of room number 40 and within few minutes the entire facade of the building was covered in black smoke.

Luckily, the incident happened early in the morning before most of the offices opened for the day. Had it been a busy day, the picture could have been much worse with hundreds of people trying to evacuate through narrow stairways of the age-old building. According to sources, there have been at least four blazes in the building since 2010 and almost all of them have been due to electrical short-circuits.

In the recent past, the world has witnessed a number of fire tragedies that has wreaked havoc on both lives and properties. India, too, has long been reeling under the aftermath of such infernos. Hence, using fire retardant materials for construction has become the call of the day.

Aludecor’s recent launch, India’s first affordable 3mm fire retardant ACP aims to address the concerns that arise of the accidental blaze. 80% of the ACP market in India belongs to 3mm ACP. By bringing affordable 3mm fire rated ACPs in the market Aludecor has played a crucial role in creating a fire-safe society. The new Aludecor product can help most buildings evade fire casualty.

Providing 2-hour fire resistance, the product controls the flame spread and heat release. It suppresses smoke so that visions of people are not blurred while escaping. It doesn’t produce flaming droplets as well. This affordable 3mm FR ACP has been developed entirely in India, at Aludecor’s factory in Haridwar.
