Aludecor is proud to be associated with Architect Brij Panjwani – the founder of North India’s most renowned consultation firm, ‘Panjwani Architects’ to Imagine, Create and Innovate, stunning aesthetics for the Vardhman Hospital. Ar. Brij Panjwani opens up to us about his strongest inspirations, thought leadership and the intricacies of the project, here, in this segment called the Space Story.
What inspired you to become an Architect? Tell us about your journey in the field of Architecture?
My father gifted me a Lego Building Block set when I was a child, and I would spend hours creating different structures out of the blocks. It used to fascinate me that the whole building structure can be changed by simply changing the arrangement of a few blocks. The amusement of building things with my own hand turned into a passion, and I fell in love with architecture. For me, architecture is the perfect amalgamation of art and logic and fulfils my passion for building dreams into reality.
What do you think are the most critical aspects of “Good Architecture”?
Architecture is a very fulfilling and satisfying profession as you can see your creative ideas transform from paper models to a concrete structure of brick and mortar. This profession gives you the opportunity to build people’s homes, projects, and business estates and that feeling of turning dreams into reality brings immense joy. The appreciations from clients fuel the passion for building better.
Where do you see/place Indian Architecture on the global map of notable Architectures?
Indian Architecture is rooted in its history, culture, and religion. We are excellent planners as was seen in the Harappan architecture of Indus Valley Civilisation. Presently we are the most progressive generation of modern Architects due to our integration with the world economy using world materials and a step ahead in innovative problem-solving. The skillset of Indian artisans is excellent and have incorporated modern techniques in their craft, creating a fusion of traditional with the contemporary.

Did you draw inspiration for FEATURED PROJECT* from the above beliefs? What was the Design Philosophy of FEATURED PROJECT*?
Nature inspires me the most. All geometry, balance, scale, proportion, beauty, and engineering is present in nature. We are surrounded by perfect engineering and design. The creator is the best Architect who has created this wonderful world and universe. Nature has perfection even in imperfection! If one observes nature and follows its simple principles- outstanding, brilliant, and functional aesthetics is bound to be achieved.
What are the highlight points for FEATURED PROJECT*?
The Featured project of Vardhman Hospital is a manifestation of Dr. Mukesh Jain’s dream and our ability to translate the dream to reality. The form was developed as per site conditions and for achieving “Elegance through Simplicity”. The design philosophy was guided by the vision of the client, and our influence was in the detailing of technical and aesthetic aspects.

Which part makes you proud as the Architect in charge of FEATURED PROJECT*?
We are proud of all aspects of the project development, but very specifically for the Services Standards and choices of equipment and materials for sustainability and easy maintenance. No doubt the aesthetics for exterior and interior design have been given special attention with elegant sensibility.
We see that you have used ACP/MCP from Aludecor in the FEATURED PROJECT*…Is there any advantage offered by this new age material for FEATURED PROJECT*?
We have used Aludecor ACPs in the shade SD-6013 Hawaii Sand for this project as we identified this company to have high standards in Manufacturing and Quality control which is world-class and you may see that for yourself if you visit their Haridwar manufacturing unit. We used this product for its durability and the fire-retardant properties offered by the product with the assurance of batch colour matching. The maintenance of the Aludecor ACP is low compared to many other available cladding materials.
Why did you choose this particular shade of Aludecor ACP/MCP? How far does this colour justify your Design Philosophy for FEATURED PROJECT*?
After a lot of deliberations over the shade, the light and dark grey shade (SD-6013 Hawaii Sand from Aludecor’s Sand Series) was chosen as they went well with each other and contrasted with the Beige tiles used alongside dry cladding. The timelessness of the greys with the beige was in line with our philosophy of subtle and elegant exterior design.
Where do you see the new age material ACP/MCP in the next 5 years?
The ACP and MCP have come a long way and is growing in usage due to easy availability and installation. Also, the variety offered gives a considerable choice to the Architects, and when I visited their manufacturing Unit in Haridwar, I was very impressed with the quality controls at each step of the manufacturing process, and the R & D unit was researching on increasing fire resistivity of the product. With the MCP, the company is setting new standards by innovating interesting cladding details.

Your message to budding Architects will be…?
My two cents for young and budding architects would be ‘Love what you create, create what you love and keep the inspiration alive’ and ‘Your attitude and not your aptitude will determine your altitude in the ladder of success’. Architecture has a lot of potentials to fulfil dreams and shape your career, but success does not come without toil and perseverance. The critical thing is to work hard and keep upgrading your skillset.
Inspiration- Remain passionate about your profession and always be engaged in the Quality improvement of all possible aspects of design and execution.
