The ArSHEtect Perspective: Featuring Sabeena Khanna

Architecture, for me, has always been a way of life. I grew up in an environment of design, having been born to an Architect father and an equally creative mother who excelled in art and nurtured in me the values of appreciating detail and goodness in everything. To top it all, I was born in Chandigarh, the epitome of modern Architecture in independent India. The environment at home was always conducive to design and creativity. Throughout my growing years, our conversations subtly centred around art and design, which ingrained in me the ability to seek inspiration from and appreciate the finer things in life. I am blessed to have been surrounded by people who are a constant source of inspiration and motivation throughout my journey from education to the happening of Studio K.I.A

I stepped into the profession over three decades ago armed with a Bachelors (Honors) degree in Architecture from the Chandigarh College of Architecture. Studio K.I.A is always a Work In Progress. We conform to no particular architectural style though designing contextually aesthetic and functional environments is what we believe in. The art of Architecture is storytelling, and the science of it is innovation. Design Philosophy at Studio K.I.A takes root in this wisdom. Principles of design vary for each project in our Studio, but we continue to seek inspiration and innovation.

Our project profile includes High rise residential communities, Luxury Residential, Hospitality, Institutional and I.T. buildings, Civic buildings, all of which are people-centric. Sensible and sensitive architecture is a high priority while designing such spaces.

We believe in a collaborative, communicative and contextual design approach that transcends use, purpose, aesthetic and function to create meaningful architecture. Each project is uniquely different and reflective of the cumulative experience, expertise and excellence of our energetic and enthusiastic team. We deliver designs close to the original intent and within the stipulated time and budget. Repeat clients are the most satisfying award for an architect and speak volumes for one’s work.

By keeping inspiration alive to create, conceive and design, conjuring up creations which work, as functionally appreciative art as well as to create a balance between the requisite and the rhythm in Architecture, would be the ultimate.

Architecture is like a souvenir that an Architect leaves for the world to see for generations.
