What Certifications Should You Check for FR ACP?
Start with the exact fire classification being claimed. Then check the standard, certificate scope, product name, construction or thickness covered where relevant, issuing or certifying body, validity and limitations. The document should relate to the product actually being specified.

How to Verify an FR ACP Before Finalising a Project
Verification should happen before the material is locked into the specification, not after procurement. First, identify the exact product and intended application. Second, obtain the relevant classification or test documentation. Third, check that the document covers the product, construction and test configuration proposed for the project.

Finally, retain the documentation with the project records. A verbal assurance is difficult to audit later. A dated certificate or test report can be reviewed by the architect, consultant, contractor and client.
And if there is still uncertainty, test the material. The free testing initiative exists precisely to encourage that behaviour. The objective is not to create suspicion around every panel. It is to make verification part of normal professional practice.
Common Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing FR ACP
The first mistake is treating every FR label as equivalent. It is not. “FR ACP”, “fire retardant ACP”, “fire rated ACP” and “fire resistant ACP” are often used loosely in the market, but specification should ultimately rest on documented classification and applicable test evidence.
The second mistake is judging an FR ACP only by its core composition. The type and proportion of materials used in the core are important, but they do not by themselves establish the fire performance of the finished ACP. What matters is how the complete panel performs in the relevant tests and what classification that performance achieves. A panel described as mineral rich or fire retardant should therefore still be evaluated against its actual test reports and certifications.
The third is accepting an old or unrelated certificate. Check dates, product identity and scope. A certificate belonging to another product or configuration does not automatically validate the material being proposed.
The fourth is confusing different types of certification. An EPD demonstrates environmental information; it does not replace a fire classification. An FPC supports production consistency; it does not itself establish reaction-to-fire class.
And finally, do not make the decision on price alone. In façade construction, the cheapest panel can become an expensive choice if it creates uncertainty, rework, compliance problems or avoidable project risk.
