How are Aludecor ACP sheets designed for exterior applications?
For exterior façade design, panel and aluminium skin thickness matter because the panel must respond to wind load and deflection. Our technical guidance recommends 4 mm ACP with 0.5 mm aluminium skin on both sides for exterior applications. The AL45 grade, for example, uses this 4 mm, 0.5 mm skin configuration.
Aludecor ACP Sheets are available in 3 mm, 4 mm and 6 mm constructions, but these should not be treated as interchangeable exterior specifications. For higher exposure applications, selecting the appropriate grade is important. ACP Sheets for Exterior Cladding should always be specified against project conditions rather than sheet thickness alone.

How do coating and surface finish influence durability?
The coating is the façade’s first defence. For high-rise exteriors, our guidance specifies PVDF as per AAMA 2605, while SDP is used for mid and low-rise applications.
Our regular-grade technical data also records testing against weathering, salt spray, abrasion, adhesion and chemical resistance. Such measurements are more useful than vague descriptions such as “premium finish”. A weather-resistant ACP specification should therefore include the coating type and relevant performance requirements.
How do ACP sheets perform against heat, rain, humidity and UV exposure?
No single test reproduces every Indian climate. Durability comes from several layers of performance working together.
Our technical data includes a 4000-hour QUV test plus a 4000-hour salt spray test. These are laboratory indicators, not guarantees of identical field conditions.
In façade design, drainage, joint detailing and ventilation matter too. Aludecor ACP sheets can perform reliably outdoors when the material and façade system are correctly specified for the exposure.
What role does proper fabrication and installation play in long-term performance?
A good panel can underperform if fabrication or installation is careless. Incorrect routing, unsuitable fasteners, poor subframe alignment, inadequate thermal movement allowance or damaged coating edges can create weak points.
Our technical guidance also highlights the importance of wind load, tensile strength and deflection when designing an ACP façade. ACP Sheets for exterior cladding should be treated as part of a complete façade assembly. Fabricators need correct tools and methods; installers need accurate setting out, compatible components and joint detailing.

How should architects choose ACP for different Indian climates?
Start with exposure, not colour. Consider whether the building is coastal, polluted, highly sun-exposed, low-rise or high-rise. Then assess skin thickness, alloy, core and coating.
For high-rise exterior work, our guidance points towards PVDF coating and 0.5 mm aluminium skins. SDP may suit mid and low-rise exteriors depending on project requirements. Aludecor ACP sheets should also be matched to the required fire performance where applicable.
A weather resistant ACP is a specification outcome, not merely a marketing phrase.
