After successful completion of60+ design workshops worldwide, rat[LAB]EDU, the educational wing of rat[LAB] Studio co-founded by the renowned architect Sushant Verma, has organizedtheParametric Design Workshopsfor design students and professionals who are passionate about focusing on the application of Computational Design for Innovative Façade and Cladding Systems. Summer School 2019: Parametric Design Workshops (3-day design workshops) was a multi-city workshop organized in – Manipal, New Delhi and Chennai and marked the 5th chapter of the annual workshop series Summer-Winter School programmes carried out by rat[LAB]EDU. Aludecor, a leading player of the ACP industry, has partnered for Summer School 2019 as the Innovation Partner to provide industry-level knowledge support for workshop participants.
The studios were designed as a part of this 3-day event across all the cities. The workshops were comprised of technical tutorials, teaching sessions, design critics, design documentation methods and presentations. The submission panel preparations and design exercises culminated in a critical discussion about Computational Design and its future potentials, about façade and cladding innovation.
The workshop provided an industry-exchange to discuss and develop R&D knowledge in close conjunction between Aludecor – one of the leading manufacturers of ACP sheets in India, and rat[LAB] -an architectural technology consultancy based out of Delhi.
The participants explored systemic models using Computational and Parametric Techniques to develop innovative ideas, patterns, geometries that are now being developed as usable products by Aludecor, providing an ideal academic-industry exchange to participants.
