Interior design is a science in the form of art. It has its elements and principles. The texture is one of the seven elements of interior design. The others are Space, Line, Form, Light, Colour, and Pattern.
The texture is the surface quality of the material. It is associated with the look or feel of an object, such as silky, smooth, rough, furry, soft, shiny etc. In interior design the perception of texture is influenced by its adjacent surfaces, viewing distance and light. When an object feels as it appears, it is called real or actual texture. When a texture is created on something that is different from what it looks like, it is called visual or implied texture.
Textures play an interesting role in transforming a space. The textures of furniture and textiles make a room feel complete and cosy. For example, pillow covers, curtain drapes, couches, wallpapers etc. It creates desirable spaces to occupy.
The key objective of interior designing is to craft a balance as per the preferences of the person who is going to occupy the room. For instance, the glossy materials with a minimum textured surface are best suited for those who prefer modern interior with sleek and simple designing style.
Textures as an important element for interior designing:
- Textures create visual interest or a contrast in an interior design. A contrasting texture is used to avoid monotony, helping in a visual balance of design. To express a mood, a dominating texture is used improving the depth in its space.
- Textures are incorporated to differentiate between surfaces and objects. It influences scale and effects transformation of light to compliment a particular design. It adds a delicate dimension into living spaces.
- Textures affect the scale of an object. Rough and coarse textures add to the visual weight of an object while smooth textures make an object appear lighter.
- Soft textures absorb light, which makes them appear warm while smooth shiny textures reflect light to appear cool. A cosy room has a variety of different textures.
Aludecor manufactures different series of textured ACPs, like Sand Series, Crinkle Series, and Rustic Series. Also, it is the only manufacturer of sand-textured ACPs in the world. These are also available in FR Grade (fire-retardant ACPs). In a modern interior space, texture can be incorporated anywhere, such as a piece of furniture, floor, décor elements or on the ceiling.
