The Kolkata cityscape is incomplete without the aesthetic genius that is reflected by the dominating structure of Biowonder. Set amidst the buzzing South Kolkata Eastern Township, one might never miss noticing this structure, owing to the beautiful architecture that mimics a pile of stacked books. Biowonder stands tall with its artistic appearance, looking nothing short
than the “Hanging Gardens of Babylon”.
Biowonder has been heavily influenced by Biophilic design – a concept used within the building industry to increase occupant connectivity to the natural environment through the use of direct nature, indirect nature, and space and place conditions. Used at both the building and city-scale, it is argued that this idea has health, environmental, and economic benefits for building occupants and urban environments, with little drawbacks. Although its name was coined in recent history, indicators of biophilic design have been seen in architecture from as far back as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Biowonder is the
brainchild of Pasari Group, who has shown undeniable genius while planning and executing a building of Biowonder’s stature and beauty.
Design Philosophy of Biowonder:
The makers of Biowonder have been influenced by the lack of greenery, sunlight and fresh air which have an adverse impact on the human mind and body. The average human being spends 65% of their lives in the closed box-like office spaces, which makes life stressful and unhealthy. So the makers of Biowonder decided to go a step further from a mere green building to create a unique and sustainable biophilic workspace that will help people flourish and perform at their workplace with greater passion and excellence.
